Hate crime

A hate crime is a crime committed against a person because of their:

race or cultural background
gender
sexual preference
political or religious views
disability
other personal characteristics

Any form of discrimination leading to hate crime is wrong. A hate crime can take many forms.It might involve:

Physical attacks
Damage to property
Threatening words or behaviour
Intentional harassment

While the crime may be a one-off incident, many victims endure months and in extreme cases years of abuse, harassment, damage to their homes, threats and sometimes violence.

This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and needs to be stopped.
